David, I remember the first year that the WA implemented soft spikes so this was years ago, I had drawn Heather Glen and the reports for Heather Glen were they had no greens, they were just dirt. This was like 3 weeks before the WA was to start. I had Heather Glen the first day and those were probably the most immaculate greens I had seen in a long time. It is amazing what a few weeks can do.
Now, on the opposite side of that…I had to play Barefoot Norman just a few years back and reports said the greens were horrible and no grass. We played there and if they had left it just dirt we were putting on we would have been better off. Instead they actually had sand that was 1/4″ deep. You could leave footprints in it wherever you walked. Try putting on that crap. And, we did not get moved off that course. It was a joke.
