Think the biggest reason for this ruling is to keep people from potentially seeing where flag positions may be marked for future rounds, because otherwise it seems silly that you cant go putt on the course during a tournament, but can practice on it the day prior to the tournament starting! But I cant imagine people actually want to go play an extra 18 holes after spending 5-6 hours on the course for the tournament round, usually Im tired and ready for something to eat/drink!
