The World Am committee makes no secret about how they come to these conclusions. They have emailed out information in the past about how they calculate things. It’s all based on statistics. There really is no other way to use a handicap system and keep things fair. Your handicap is generated based on calculations… scores, slope, rating… it is not an exact science. Unfortunately, if your score falls outside of the realm of probability, especially over multiple days, then how else should the committee make those decisions without making exceptions and appearing to show favoritism? Every year I have played (8) I have seen or heard of many people getting disqualified. It sucks for anyone who is legitimately posting scores and keeping a valid handicap but unfortunately that seems to be the price for trying to ensure people aren’t getting more shots than they should.
