On course assignments, the committee (which they have had turnover so this may not still be true) stated a few years ago they have what they considered A, B, and C courses. Personally, I find their rankings to be similar to how I rank them so I didn’t have a problem with how they view them even though they would never make their rankings public. They also map out the Grand Strand as North, South, Central and Hwy 501. So when they do course assignments, they try and not give the same courses to the same flights year after year which is their first criteria. They don’t always achieve this. Then they try to give one North, one South, one Central and one Hwy 501 to each flight and one “high” A and one C. They typically achieve the high A and C. Then the other two courses they fill in the geographic locations still available for the flight with the highest ranked courses they have available to assign to the flights. Sometimes a flight may get two North courses or two courses Central. However, what they consider “central” doesn’t necessarily feel too central in my opinion. But the hard part is the contractual commitment as many courses only sign up for one or two days to host. So it isn’t an easy task in the least.

The one thing I will say from my observations, the Gross and low handicap flights tend to get the “weakest” rotations. I don’t know why but that is my observation and others may disagree with how I view the courses.
