2023 will be my 34th attempt at becoming the World Am Champion. Best so far was 2nd in flight one time. That was a great come from behind. Maybe this year a Super Senior will win. Me? Who knows? The fun and experience is the main attraction.
Who else has competed over 30 times?July 25, 2023 at 12:00 pm #51820Henry ZeberkiewiczParticipant2023 will be my 38th World Am. I missed the first one – didn’t know about it – and skipped 2020 – the Covid year -for safety reasons. I won my flight for the first time in 2021, a year they used tee times. It was great to finally win on my 36th try and the Grande Dunes championship round was first class in every way, but on Thursday they did not have the leaders paired together and that sucked. I hope that changes just in case my A game decides to show up again.
July 25, 2023 at 12:35 pm #51821Larry BlackParticipantHenry, this would be my 37th, but I did not know it existed until 1986. Found out reading Golf Digest and decided to go on a whim. Met another player in my flight named Black, became friends and met there the next 8 years. He has a brother named Larry, so I always had to announce, “This is Larry, not your brother.” Lots of good memories.
July 25, 2023 at 3:53 pm #51823Rick KimbrellParticipantThis will be my 36th consecutive year to play, hopefully. Just got out of hospital so have some recovering to go but think I will make it. I have won my flight 2 times with several top 10 and now top 5 finishes.
It is great fun. In the past I have run several pre-tournament skins games and also ran skins with my flight. Doing so is a lot of work but also a lot of fun getting to actually meet lots of folks.
Coming back each year and getting to see guys I only get to see in MB every year makes it all worth it.
Hope to see everyone in August.July 29, 2023 at 8:01 pm #51832Bob NewmanParticipantRick, how are you doing? We’re getting too old to be making trips to hospital. I’m finally getting my body somewhat back to normal. Since last September I’ve lost 55 lbs and am walking on a treadmill 2 miles in 31:20 3 times a week. Still can’t handle golf more than 2 days in a row. I’m a par shooter for8 holes and can’t break 90. Oh well, I got new irons on order and we will see what that does. Got a couple buddies coming down this year and I’m coming down to use his guest pass so I’ll try to catch you one night.
August 1, 2023 at 11:57 am #51849John TantilloParticipantI’ve only played about a dozen times but my first was 29 yrs ago in 1994. The good ol’ days of the DuPont.
August 1, 2023 at 2:34 pm #51852Henry ZeberkiewiczParticipantHow many remember the 1980s when the random drawing prize was a new car?
August 2, 2023 at 6:19 pm #51860Tom McGeehanParticipantI started playing in the World Am in 1986. Have played in the tournament 33 times. I just decided today to play one more time just to have this unique experience one more time. The old days with DuPont as the sponsor, the grand prize sitting outside the convention center (cars). The year they gave away a condo. The two hurricanes I got to experience. The rains, the beautiful weather, good golf courses and not so good golf courses, but most of all the experience of meeting folks from all over the world that, like me, came in with great expectations, and left reflecting on the good times I had even though I did not have the good results I had hoped for.
This year, I come down to enjoy the whole experience one more time. I am very lucky to have been able to play in the first flight of my age group each of the 33 years I have participated. I am 78 and will still be in the first flight in my age group. That by itself is a unique accomplishment that I cherish.
This trip will be all smiles for me. To remember all those that I have lost along the way and to see the folks I have had the honor to meet and play with during this journey makes this an amazing trip that I will so thoroughly enjoy!August 3, 2023 at 2:43 pm #51864Scott T. – World AmKeymasterLarry & all other long time loyalists! We would like for you to report to the main stage on Tuesday night at 6:35 for a very special awards night. There will be a video and honoring those who have played 30+ years. August 5, 2023 at 9:54 pm #51879Rick KimbrellParticipantBob Newman, I guess best way to describe how I am…alive. Been a hell of a year. I lost all the way down to 127#. Managed to get back to 145# but this latest fiasco back down to 134#. Weak as a new born kitten. My game is terrible. Can’t hit the ball out of my own shadow. I have numerous health issues I am dealing with but I really want to come this year. Just hope I can play just good enough to not finish DFL in my flight. Look forward to seeing you.
August 6, 2023 at 1:21 pm #51880WAYNE STROHParticipantThanks Scott for honoring 30+years partipants. This will be my 37th year and this is greatly appreciated.

TomAugust 7, 2023 at 12:20 pm #51882grant johnsonParticipantscott, how can you find out how many years I’ve attended? I’ve lost track, but seems to be close to the 30 mark…..grant johnson 6053…….thanks
August 8, 2023 at 2:20 pm #51893Jim CachatParticipantThis is my 37th year. Missed the first 3.
I’ve had the pleasure of playing with Rick Kimberly several times at the World Am. I don’t know about his health but I always thought his golf game was a little questionable.
August 16, 2023 at 1:12 pm #51984Gary RobideauParticipantScott, Thank you and the staff for honoring 30 years + participants. I started in 1990 and will now have played 34 consecutive tournaments. I’ve met hundreds of good people and made hundreds of great friends. Also thank the staff for the ” Hole In One Skins Pool ” idea and implementation.
