I have attended the World Am for probably more than 20 to 25 years and the Convention Center was always a blast and a place to have fun and see your friends from years past. Besides getting your flight placings. I haven’t been able to attend the last 3 years because of medical problems but I know this year 2020 will be a most unusual year for all that attend. I hope everyone has fun and plays really well and I pray that you will have no rain and draw really good courses. Maybe next year the Convention Center will be open and everything back to normal.
May 28, 2020 at 10:02 pm #47383Rick KimbrellParticipantI sure hope you are right Danny. This will be my 33rd consecutive year and the Convention Center has always played a big part of why I come every year. Hope to see you back at the tournament.

What age group are you in?
What is your handicap?
I can’t remember if we have ever played together ? I’m terrible with names usually>I’m from Texas?
16.9 Handicap…
Age now 70 to 79 group…May 30, 2020 at 5:24 pm #47385Bob NewmanParticipantDanny, Rick is way older than you (not) but he is still playing in the 70 -79 group. I was in his flight the last couple years and I think we were around 12 +/- indexes. He usually runs the skins game. I already owe him a beer for this year
May 30, 2020 at 9:08 pm #47386Rick KimbrellParticipantDanny, Bob is correct. I am in the 70-79 age group. Not sure how the handicap thing is going to shake out this year since WHS came into play. Right now, my low index since WHS started is 10.3. I will be 74 yrs old by the time World Am rolls around. I am also from Texas. I live about 40 miles west of downtown Houston.
Bob…looking forward to that beer and seeing you again.

June 2, 2020 at 3:29 pm #47395Danny McDanielParticipantRick I see your from Texas, down by Houston. I am from Denton- about 40 miles north of Dallas. If I could go this year I would be 73 yrs. old. I looked Bob up and he is from Edgefield S.C. I don’t know exactly where that is. I always fly into Myrtle Beach and just drive around Myrtle and to the golf courses. I hope both of you guys have a wonderful time this year and think of me. If the Lord is willing I will try to make it next year. The World Am is the most fun that I have ever had playing golf. Take care.
June 2, 2020 at 4:15 pm #47396Rick KimbrellParticipantDanny, sorry you will not be there this year. Certainly hope you make it next year. And you are correct…this is the most fun you can have at a golf tournament. Now, about Bob…Edgefield S.C. I doubt it is on the map. Probably no post office. Maybe a caution light…probably not even a stop sign.
Just kidding Bob…love ya brother. See you in MB somewhere. We will find a way to have an adult beverage together.June 2, 2020 at 5:50 pm #47400Bob NewmanParticipantDanny, don’t believe what Rick tells you. Edgefield is not very big by Texas standards. I actually live between Edgefield and Johnston and we have plenty of stop signs, we actually have a total of 4 stoplighs in the 2 towns. We are even on the S.C. MAP,right near Ward, Eurika, and Saluda. I’m 25 miles east of Magnolia Lane in Augusta ga., and about 20 miles north of Aiken. If you drive on I-20 , one exit actually does say Edgefield. I wish I could say something flashy about Edgefield but other than being home to the legendary Strom Thurmond (who by the way made headines at his 100th birthday by putting his arms around the lady that brought out his cake). If not this year then next, I’ll buy you a beer also. I’ll straighten out Rick also. We do have fun on the BB.
June 3, 2020 at 4:12 pm #47404Rick KimbrellParticipantBob, Bob, Bob…Strom Thurmond…bless his heart. Poor guy was has a hearing problem. Rumor has it his hearing was damaged at Fort Sumpter. Can’t say that is true but lots of folks believe it to be.
Bob, so looking forward to seeing you this year. Hope you are getting golf in and your handicap down to that 4 where it belongs. Take care my friend.- This reply was modified 3 years, 6 months ago by Rick Kimbrell.
June 3, 2020 at 5:42 pm #47406Bob NewmanParticipantRick the “man” was everywhere. It is also about 20 houses in the Edgefield area that claim to be his homeplace. Late in life he took on a very young bride. Rumor has it that her biggest fear in like was “old age creeping up on her”. I am playing but handicap is not coming down. Have way too many double and triples in a round to get it down. How do you think the WA will handle the last 12 months best index this year???
June 3, 2020 at 8:15 pm #47409Tommy BriggsBlockedBob they simply cannot go back and look at the last twelve months, the data is gone.
What they can do is use the last 7 months (Jan – July) and then balance that number against past WA performance.
June 3, 2020 at 10:49 pm #47410Rick KimbrellParticipantBob, I think Tommy is right. Beside, handicaps for last 4 months of last year were based upon 10 lowest differentials and the .96 factor. Now, the .96 is gone and the number of differentials is 8 instead of 10.
June 4, 2020 at 6:31 am #47411Bob NewmanParticipantThat makes sense. Actually that will help me since I am no where near playing to a 12 index
