Should the virus extend for additional months. Will the entry fee be refunded
April 3, 2020 at 11:51 am #47191Scott T. – World AmKeymasterHey Benny – we are working through all possible contingencies though we do not have an official update to any policy at this time. Given the timing we will not be making a determination of how to proceed until we can make a more educated decision. For the time being we have simply been referring to our normal cancel policy.
We’re asking participants to make their own well-informed decisions to register when they feel comfortable. We have extended early incentive time frame to be through May 14th. We thank you for your patience and hope you are staying safe.

April 4, 2020 at 11:34 pm #47193Harry (The Hack) RadleyParticipant10 in 1 million will get sick and 1 in 10 million will die from this virus. It is just like the lottery, everybody thinks that their number will come up. Just like those people walking around wearing masks thinking that their number will be the next one up. I on the other hand do not play the lottery, I will not wear a mask, I want to live life free of restrictions and if by chance JC’s big lottery wheel of life plucks my number out when I’m not ready so be it. LONG LIVE RULE 35.
April 5, 2020 at 12:04 am #47194Michael LinthicumParticipantEveryone in America can test positive for coronavirus just for having a upper respiratory infection. COVID-19 is different and that is what ppl are dying from but its far and few between. We are gonna play at the end of Aug so be ready
April 6, 2020 at 11:34 am #47196Jim KavanaghParticipantI did some math. Might be wrong but you can check it for me. 10 in 1 million would result in about 3,300 people being infected nationwide. 1 in 10 million deaths adds up to about 33 people dying from the virus. I used 330,000,000 as the population number for the U.S. I think, according to Fox News and others, that both numbers have been exceeded so far. I do not play the lottery either. You, however, do not have the right to infringe upon my right to life. I consider this right moore precious than either liberty or pursuit of happiness. Please stay away from other people in the event you become infected. Play well and make some birdies.
April 6, 2020 at 5:29 pm #47197Robert HuddParticipantI would not be surprised if the World AM is cancelled this year. I hope I am wrong. The Corona Virus is highly contagious and won’t go away in the warm weather. Short of developing a vaccine by August, I don’t see how the virus can be contained. 5.5% death rate world wide and about 3% in the US. I live in a small town in Massachusetts and I know 2 people that have died from this Virus. The Medical experts are saying we need a national strategy to deal with the pandemic. Any partial effort will result in a continued spread throughout the country. Listen to the medical people and do your part to prevent the spread.
April 7, 2020 at 12:56 pm #47198Tommy BriggsBlockedThe projections are for the virus to be gone completely in June. The world and the US has to return to normal, the government cannot continue to support the people of the United States. It is expected the stay at home orders will be lifted in May.
Your statistics are measured during the apex of the crisis, look at projections down the road.
April 7, 2020 at 8:03 pm #47199Robert HuddParticipantTommy,
Time will Tell!!
I have reviewed these charts and data. However the projections are if 100% of the people in our country practice social distancing and all the recommendations of the CDC and medical experts. It would be helpful if the national leadership, instead of babbling for an hour each night presented these charts each night and also projected what the charts would look like if only 90%, 75%,or 50% of the population comply with the the recommendations. We do not have a national strategy which also
has to be factored in.April 8, 2020 at 9:35 am #47201david tianoParticipantEven after this virus event is past us people will be still practicing social distancing for some time and avoid large indoor gatherings. IF event is still on I will not go the convention center at all. The 19 hole should be eliminated and entry fee adjusted. Just my thoughts.
April 8, 2020 at 1:26 pm #47202Tommy BriggsBlockedEnough with the doom and gloom and bashing the President. Stay home locked up in your house if you want. Golf corses are open now and the World Am will be held in August like it always is. The world will return to normal in May with everyone taking new levels of safety precautions but life will go on.
As far as the 19th hole goes lets see what is happening in June or July before we change plans for something that might not even happen
April 8, 2020 at 5:10 pm #47203Robert HuddParticipantI hope you are right, Tommy.
As I said time will tell.
In several states golf courses are closed until May 4th. In Massachusetts we had an early spring the courses opened for a couple weeks. They closed on March 23rd until May 4th. Many golfers feel they won’t open again until either June or July.April 8, 2020 at 5:35 pm #47204Tommy BriggsBlockedMost golf courses in Florida, Georgia, South and North Carolina are still open. They are taking certain safety precautions like one person per cart, raised cups and some other measures.
The national projections are for the virus to be gone completely by June. It is worse in some areas and in those areas people see it much differently than those in low risk or low exposure areas. We just had our first case in our county three days ago. It is a horrible crisis but it is going to decline and is in many areas already.
We have dealt with Ebola, Aids, H1N1, Zika and now Covid 19, this is not our first encounter with a global pandemic. All of them at the time we promoted as the end of the world. This too will pass and sooner than later.
Until then stay safe and healthy, you and your family are in my prayers.
April 8, 2020 at 8:04 pm #47205Jim KavanaghParticipantI live in Florida and am playing golf just about every day, mostly walking. I agree with Tiano, though, about the convention center. Lots of people will still be wary of crowds. As for bashing Trump, CNN goes overboard and FOX never seems to question any of his assertions. We need a neutral source for news reporting. I have not seen, read, or heard anyone claim that this virus issue will be over by June. Anybody have a source for that information? I spend way too much time watching the news stations, all of them, and I am not aware of that claim.
