Hello everyone! I hope you are as excited for this years event as I am. This will be my first trip to the World Amateur and I am looking forward to a great time. I was hoping someone might be able to offer any advice and tips on where to stay for a reasonable cost. I am single, will be traveling and staying by myself. Was hoping to find somewhere to stay on the ocean with an oceanfront view. I’ve looked into some of the accommodations offered the tour’s website. But was wondering if there might be more out there. If anyone has any ideas they would be most appreciated.
Thank You.
John

I have found them to generally be cheaper than any of the hotels and I like the added convenience of having a washer/dryer, kitchen and quiet/privacy. I have stayed in the Myrtlewood complex and find it to absolutely be the best location as it is centrally located and easy to get to any of the courses whether going north, south or west, and also very close to the convention center for the nightly 19th hole activities. There are plenty of condos in VRBO that are on the beach, I have just never stayed in any of them as I am usually out of the condo by 7:00AM and don’t usually return until 3:00PM or later, so beach time would be short anyway. Now if you are bringing the wife/gf etc, then a beach location might be better for you.
Good luck! You will love playing in the WA and meeting and making new friends.May 13, 2019 at 3:45 pm #46006Kevin WilsonParticipantVrbo is the best option. We have used it every year. You have the ability to be as lavish or economical as you would like. I travel with wife and kids….22, 20 and 18. We stay oceanfront as they do the beach while I’m golfing. We really dont spend much time in the room as we are out doing things and once the tournament starts we go to the 19th hole and then go to play mini golf or Broadway at the beach. You may look up Caravelle on Vrbo, not the most updated but it is oceanfront and close to all. Advice for you once you know where you are playing…map out course from hotel, figure on school and work traffic. If you like to warm up before the round I would suggest getting to course at least an hour ahead. The range gets crowded about 30 mins before start. There is one person on the boards who posts a list annually of things you might/will want to pack. Good luck to you. This is the best golf tournament for the money.

You are going to play both North and South of wherever you stay so somewhere in central Myrtle Beach is your best option, in addition it puts you close to the 19th hole.
Once we get closer to the tourney you will start to see posts for ride shares and that is a good way to meet some people either offering to drive or looking for a ride.
I personally always rent on a golf course property so I have access to a driving range and putting green. There are lots of options and you should not have any problem.
Just a thought but you could always look for a roommate, there are a lot of people in your situation. Put a notice here in the bulletin board, you may even find someone to ride with from wherever you are coming from. I have found everyone playing is very accomodating

It’s nothing special but it is right on the beach and it’s been pretty clean and close to the middle of Myrtle Beach. Mine has a small kitchen and fridge. It’s on 201 77th Street. Grande Shores Hotel. You can look it up. About 10 to 15 minutes from the Convention Center. They are owned by the Avista which is up in N. Myrtle Beach. Read the reviews and check it out.
