I just looked at the tee times for the Q school why would on Wed. it not be set up by scores ? never played in a tournament when the person you may have to beat is teeing off a hour after you tee off and we are only 1 shot back…What if someone is tied with the leader or maybe one shot back…Seeing how they are playing if you were there may change how you would have played a hole…I mean if the 1st or 2nd place person at the time who is in your foursome lose a ball or hit a 2nd shot in the water on a par 5 then I for one would not go for the green in two I’m laying up playing for a par maybe make a putt for the birdie rather than taking a chance of also playing following the leader into the water. That could be the difference in finishing 1st or 2nd in the tournament when you started the day in 4th place. I mean there are only 50 people in each flight…and with scores being entered into the computer it does not take that long for it to be posted on the web site…

Yes, it would be online and available fairly quickly Tuesday night but we do not want to risk anyone missing their time for lack of ability to review in time. Sounds silly, but we know it causes issues. Set times also significantly helps people plan their week. For this event specifically, there are pairing requests for safety reasons which eliminates that leaderboard style anyway. Hope this helps answer your question.

March 19, 2021 at 2:40 pm #48886Louie PhippsParticipantAdam, this isn’t Tommy but I can tell you about the situation we had with tee times in flights 5 and 6. Our first day at The Pearl, our group arrived on the 10th tee right on time and we promptly waited 20 minutes for the fairway to clear. Once we finished the hole we were then the FOURTH group on the next tee box, a par 3. We waited on every tee box from that point on and it took us exactly 6 hours to finish. On Tuesday, it was the complete opposite at Barefoot Dye. We teed off right on time on #10 and in spite of one of our players falling head first into the pond while trying to retrieve his ball (quite a story), we played in a little over 4 1/2 hours, which considering the weather conditions, I thought was amazing. But then on Wednesday at Wachesaw East I was in the first group at 8 AM and it was a pure joy to move right along through the first nine and onto the next nine. When we reached the 6th hole we noticed 2 players leaving the green while we were teeing off and we thought that was a little strange. On the next tee box, when we arrived the 2-some had just hit their tee shots and were driving off. We waited and waited and finally completed the hole. When we arrived at #8 tee box, the 2-some was waiting on a 3-some to clear the green on the par 3. They told us they teed off at 10 AM and it took them 2 1/2 hours to play 7 holes..!!
After making such great time through 14 holes, we completed our round in 5 1/2 hours.March 19, 2021 at 8:08 pm #48888Tommy BriggsBlockedAdam in flights 1 & 2 we played in around 4.5 hours each day. We teed off at 9:12 on Tuesday and Wednesday (so we were close to the end of the field) and still got done in 4.5 hours. Which considering Wednesday we played cart paths only at Caledonia is kind of amazing.
We really did not see any “back-ups” during our round.
I still think tee times are the better way to go, we played in two shotgun starts this week after Myrtle Beach and the time to pay was about the same but we ran into more back ups. I still think the biggest benefit is you can show up go to the range and you do not have to fight for space. - AuthorPosts
