I see it opens on Wed. 04/07 wonder what’s going to be in the mix this year wide open with 19th hole or like last year just golf only…the wait is almost over…

Ummmm I might have found the answer to my post being I run up on what looks like the early registration price of $ 559.00 this is really getting a bit expensive for 4 days of golf. With no increase of the prizes…and the possibly of getting two $ 50.00 courses to play on top of that. I like going to the 19th hole but paying a extra 160 bucks for finger foods and still having to go eat dinner once you leave I might have to agree with Tommy B on just doing a golf only price….

The email I received today announcing the April 7 registration stated a full 19th hole.

I think there is a point where you have to decide who and what you are. Are you a golf tournament or a social event with golf. I am an alcoholic so the idea of standing in line for free drinks does absolutely nothing for me. As you mentioned Mike standing in line for five to ten minutes for a single BBQ rib and a tablespoon of baked beans does not justify an additional fee in my mind.

However if I was bringing my wife and / or children, and / or travelling with another family, I think the 19th hole would be worth every penny they charge for it. The fact that every year guest passes are sold and traded for demonstrates to me there are people who need or want additional 19th hole passes. However not only am I paying for a 19th hole ticket I will not use, I am paying for a second ticket that if I do not sell it will go into the hotel trash can.

I absolutely understand there are decisions that have to be made to accommodate the field. Gift bag prizes are what you see is what you get because you cannot try to offer numerous gift bag options. But I have to believe there are options for a “Golf Only” registration fee. Charge $500.00 for golf only, $559. for golf and 19th hole. Then charge an additional $25 – $50 for each additional 19th hole guest pass and I would find it hard to believe the WA would not come out ahead or at least break even.

Yea I looked at my email after I seen your post…what would be nice is to see the old Dupont days of prizes when they were the sponsor 🙂

    Thanks

I personally, and I think I can speak for the majority of the group I come with, missed the 19th hole last year. It may not be a big deal for many of you but it definitely is for a bunch of us. We get to see the friends we have made over the years at the 19th hole as rarely are any of us in the same flight. Slight increase in price over 2019 but I am ok with that too. Looking forward to WA 2021 and seeing my friends who I only get to see usually once every year.

I agree with the modified price option for the 19th hole. Not to mention that social distancing will still be required so it will be very difficult to make that happen when the 19th hole free for all opens. Unless they have flight nights restricting only certain flights per night to try and control to volume of people.

By August, pretty much everyone should have gotten their covid vacination. Some strates already have open the age bracket.
This should help the social distance issues. When playing or on putting green, not many stayed 6 feet apart anyway.
Guess presenting your vavination card as proof when entering could be a option.

“When playing or on putting green, not many stayed 6 feet apart anyway.” I find that comment interesting. I think for the most part the only time most guys I play golf with are closer than 6 feet would be riding in a cart. On the tee box, we give everyone a wide berth. Same on the greens…for us. Again, can’t speak for what is going on at other clubs and organizations.

In Ontario Canada the rule is, if you ride in a cart with someone NOT in the same household you must wear a mask.
