Scott, how many entries do you have for the new Seasoned Seniors division? I’ll be there in a couple more years.

Please pass this thought on to whom it may concern. This will be my 20th year to play in the World Am. It will be my 9th year to play in the super senior division. My short game is as good as ever but I am getting no distance at all off the tee. Therefore I moved to the forward tees (better known as the “sissy” tees) last fall. Now I am playing course yardages around 5,000 yards instead of the 5400-5700 yard “senior” to “super senior” ranges and frankly am enjoying my rounds much more. I had made up my mind that if I did not play well in the World Am this year it might just be my last. But then I actually stumbled on the fact that you had established a “seasoned senior” division this year for 80 years and up. Here is the thought I want to pass on. I may have missed it but I don’t recall seeing any announcement about the new division. I think there are a lot of people that reached the same conclusion that I was about to reach, that is, the competitive aspect of the World Am is just becoming too challenging and I’m going to drop out. You probably have several hundred guys over the last 5 to 8 years that were playing in the super senior division and quit coming. if you have a way of identifying those players you might want to do a special mailing to them, let them know about the new division and extend a special invitation for them to return next year. You might just pick up another batch of “seasoned” veterans. Just my 2 cents worth…..

Louie – thanks for the input. The reason we created the flight was due to the requests of those participants. We reached out to all past players who are now 80+ and did a survey (which was about 100 players). They said they wanted it, so we did it. I think we got as many as we could this year, but will only increase over time as word spreads.

We also announced a ‘just for fun’ flight which is quite literally playing however you want for fun. I’ve seen a decent amount of ‘seasoned’ players move to that, just so they don’t have to finish a hole or all 72 of them for that matter. Hope you continue to play for years to come.
