How do you know what flight you’re in? I will volunteer to keep skins but don’t know what flight I am in.

Online soon!
Hi everyone! After about 10 years playing in the World Am, keeping skins, and participating in numerous other tournaments, I finally spent a small fortune to build a new, online tournament/league/skins tracking website. It will track all stats (gross and net scores), handicap index and course handicap, individual daily and cumulative total scores; literally everything tournament related. I’ll be adding more tournament and skins games within two or three months; best ball, scramble, alternate shot and more. I also have players’ iPhone and Android mobile apps, but I’m not sure if they’ll be ready by tournament time.
I’m looking for a few people that are willing to beta test the software during the World Am. I prefer, if two people are running flight skins, I’d like the non-admin skins person to enter data and see which is faster; your method or mine.
I’m offering free site membership for up to 90 days for anyone (including the skins admin and beta tester) interested in beta testing during the World Am. No more spreadsheets. Once you have player indexes, entered the club/courses, hole handicaps, hole distances, hole pars, and other settings, the rest is done by the system.
I have in-line, built-in video instructions in the system so you can’t mess it up. The videos walk you through the entire system setup. The software system has links to the USGA Slope Database and GHIN. It will copy the players GHIN number and you can paste it right in. Once you’ve collected names, skins money, and handicap indexes, you’re all set.
That’s all you need. It tracks daily course info (location, course(s) played, etc.), skins, 50% skin split, gross skins, net skins, gross and net, both, and even skins carry overs. Even if you aren’t interested in using the app during the World Am, I’ll offer you the same free trial for any single event. There will be daily, monthly, and annual plans. If you get in early, I am giving away 30 lifetime memberships.
Thanks!
Ken Weatherford
July 20, 2019 at 9:12 am #46275Raymond LemoineParticipantDavid, I’m glad you’re going to update the skin volunteers again this year, thanks for that. I probably will drop into the lower flight from i was in last year since my hdcp is about a half a stroke higher than last year. I ran flights 41 and 42 last year and will probably be in flight 42 this year. I’ll let you know when the flight assignments are made in August.
July 20, 2019 at 9:45 pm #46281Rick KimbrellParticipantGuys, I have run skins in my flights several years. I don’t advertise that I will but you can bet your butt if no one else does…I will. Since we have 2 flights on same course, I will run a game for both flights combined. It is great fun to meet everyone and no I don’t mind staying and doing it. But, if someone else steps up and says they will do it, I will be more than happy to help any way I can. Aside from that…I will not participate in any skins game that someone takes money out because they are running it and thinks they are owed something for doing it. If I run it, if you tip me…fine. If you buy me a drink…fine. If you dis me and take the cash…fine. In my games, every dollar taken in is paid out to the winners.
Oh, and BTW..if you don’t hang around and you win a skin…you will get full payment next day (some will not do that). And, if you win on last day and leave…I will contact WA, get your contact info, get in touch with you, and send you the money. That is the honest way of doing business in these games.July 21, 2019 at 7:31 pm #46284Jeffrey BarbasBlockedFor everyone running the skins game, please, have a plan in place for the last day in case every hole gets cut. I’ve run it in the past for several years in the flights I was in and never had a problem, well, on the last day anyways. You have to report your birdies! Combined skins in flights 3 and 4. I’ll either be in flight 2 or the first handicap of the Seniors. There are a few friends that are possibly moving to the Seniors that might persuade me to move, and I would think I might possibly have a slightly better chance at a skin playing against the scratch Seniors and low handicap 1st flight of seniors. And I heard they combined last year as well vs. splitting in the 49 & under last year. I like the big pot even if I don’t win anything. I’ll try and help out if I can. I make up some good boards for the game that I can bring for Birdies and Eagles. There is going to be 3 of us coming down and probably 3 different flights. My nephews first year and he will be in the high handicap flight. I think they will have me at a 4.1 and my friend is a 5.5 for his year low I think. 4.9 was the cut last year for 2 and 3 so we will be in different flights most likely.

July 22, 2019 at 8:01 am #46288Dale CraigParticipantGuys, Can I suggest we start a new thread for the 2019 Skins posts? No reason to recycle last years skins posts.
Last year I wrote up a rules sheet, I handed out to everyone who paid me for skins. This was a tremendous improvement over previous years as it plainly laid out the rules and responsibilities.
I had no issues with people handing me course scorecards and other common questions that I got tired of answering. Believe me. Before I started the rules sheets, the number of guys who handed me a course scorecard with only their score and no one attesting it was huge. This is what I handed every skins player.
“Cost to enter is $20/$20/$20/$40. $100 gets you in for the whole week. If you get in for only 1 day and there was a carryover, then you must pay the previous days $20 in order to be eligible for that days skins.
All skins are Gross skins only and skins are for combined both flights. There are no individual flight skins.
There can be only 1 winner per hole. 2 tie all tie. In the event there are no winners, then the entire pot carries over to the next day. On Thursday, if there are no individual winners, then tied Eagles will be paid first (I’d love to see this happen!), then 2 tied birdies will be paid and if no 2 tied birdies then 3 tied etc. All skins paid out immediately following all players turning in their cards and skins determined.
MOST IMPORTANTLY!! Only “Official” Score Cards are excepted, NOT the tear strip you kept your score on, NOT a course Score card. If you cannot stay due to my still playing before you have to leave, then you must have a fellow player in your group take a picture with your name and scores legible, so that I can attest your birdies, or I will attempt to verify with the pro shop. BUT, someone from your group or another competitor must inform me that you have a “potential” skin.”Finally, I don’t know how others always handle Thursday payouts if there are no outright winners or a winner doesn’t want to stick around, I don’t think it is my responsibility to “Find you”. If your schedule is so tight that you can’t stick around for an extra hour on Thursday to collect your skin money, then it shouldn’t be mine either. If you aren’t there, I will pay out those skins to the other winners who did stick around. I like doing the skins, but I am volunteering and am not going give up even more of my vacation because someone doesn’t want to get paid, and you expect me to go looking for you.
July 22, 2019 at 8:22 am #46289jt fosterParticipantDale I will take reg score cards only with two people signing it!!!! They have to sign it and there cart partner. Found out last year that the pro at one course we were playing had a bad night he jumped our ass for only taking the official card !!!!! he need to get them first so he could get them turned in to the convention center. he was an ass about it !!! that was the only course in 16 years that had a problem with it

July 22, 2019 at 12:24 pm #46293Ken DelaneyParticipantI will be returning for my 14th WA this year and I am more than happy to run the skins game for whatever flight I end up in. In flight’s 5&6 for a few years w Dave Tiano, and last year with a little help from my buddies Mark, Matt and Jeff Barbas, I ran the skins game for flight’s 3 & 4. If someone else desires to do it more than me and insists, then I would be happy to assist them. I was always early to the course and one of the last to leave. I take nothing off the top but tips are appreciated (which most do). This helps with my swing lube addiction…lol
July 22, 2019 at 7:33 pm #46297Jeffrey BarbasBlockedKen Delaney did a nice job last year. I did like his idea of taking a picture of your scorecard and texting it to him if you couldn’t stick around. One thing that is also nice is that the World Am has hole by hole scores on the website now, but, you can only see them for the players in your flight. If you decide to hold off to pay until the next morning for the first 3 days then you need a buddy in the other flight to verify scores. I use to talk to the pro to verify scores for skins. They never had a problem letting me see the cards. They also know the longer the guy running the skins is there the more money in the clubhouse they will make. It’s a win, win! It’s never a bad thing if someone keeps a scorecard with all the players first and last names on them and that card is turned in for skins. It makes for a good accounting process because we really don’t like to miss anyone and have to pay out money that shouldn’t have been paid out. Trust me. It happens and it’s usually inadvertent. Just because it seemed like an easy hole, turn it in. You never know.
July 23, 2019 at 10:28 am #46298Ken DelaneyParticipantYes Jeff, that was an idea we came up with a few years back (cellphone pics). I look at it like this, if you want to turn your “official” card in, that’s fine. Just take a clear pic of it and save it on your phone.
If you made a birdie, etc and you want to know if it’s good, then hang around for a little while and find out. But I also know there are guys who want to leave the course asap because of families waiting. If this is the case, let me know ahead of time and you can text it to me. I/We haven’t had a problem in the past and I don’t anticipate any in the future.
July 23, 2019 at 10:26 pm #46315Rick KimbrellParticipantKen Delaney, glad to know you are not one of the guys who will hold money back from a winner one day because he left the course and had to get paid the next. That is the way it should be in every flight. For that matter, anyone who holds any money back from any winner or skims off the top…should never run a skins game at the WA again.
