Just wondering…any thoughts on bringing back this event? It was always fun and a great start to tournament.

Sorry, I was talking about Sunday at Broadway.

    I totally agree!

I understand why it was not a part of the tournament during the Covid years, but overall this was a great evening for participants to reconnect. Having played in the WA for many years, there were a few years when the weather did not cooperate.

I’ll bet the local establishments there were happy to have it. If not at Broadway, why not another evening at the Convention center…with a mini version of the food and bars.

I seem to recall one enjoyable year at the the House of Blues at Barefoot Landing. My vote would be to return to that venue. Of course, my stay at North Beach might have something to do with my vote. πŸ™‚

I went to that Terry didn’t really enjoy it though I didn’t like only having one way in and once you got in there was no room to accommodate the amount of people that came…they we packed like elbow to elbow in front and behind you when they was drawing for the prizes..

That’s true. I did win one of those small Voicecaddie devices. Probably another reason I remember the House of Blues fondly.

Bring it back it was a great time to start things off. Plus it helps the business out. Love the piano bar.

I’m all for an “unofficial” gathering at Broadway at the Beach if there is not to be a sanctioned event. I’m sure the bar/restaurant owners would approve. 😁

I believe a while back the WA Staff said the Sunday event was a no-go. Wish they would bring it back. Thought it was good business for the establishments there and a heck of a lot of fun for participants and guests. But, what do I know.

Now that I think about it…I seem to recall an explanation that the management of Broadway at the Beach refused to participate in a promoted event for Sunday. If so, cannot blame the Tournament Committee for not going ahead. It’s a shame that local businesses cannot see the benefit of having 3,000 to 5,000 folks (with families) enticed to visit your establishments. I once wrote a letter to the Pelicans and the Carolina Coastal league offices suggesting that it would be a no-brainer to schedule the Pelicans for a homestand each year during the World Am and to put ticket or food/ drink discounts in our goody bags. Crickets. I don’t even have a marketing degree and I can see the missed opportunities to boost revenues.

    To Terry,

That’s an EXCELLENT idea… No doubt they would have one of their biggest crowds there. Especially a early Sunday game and/or 7:30pm. weekday game. That would be AWESOME!!

Thanks, Charles. I thought so too. My letter suggested a homestand to start Saturday before the tournament and run for at least a week….with night games Monday through Thursday, of course. Don’t have to be a marketing genius to see the one week attendance bump, especially with ticket or food/beverage specials. Helps the whole league if each team has to share a portion of gate revenues.
