Georgetown.A couple years back it was dropped from the rotation because of poor comditiond
August 19, 2026 at 6:47 pm #54732Andreas MealeyParticipantBOB its ANDY the skins guy and I let out an OH F##K when I saw it plus its the last day who wants to ride that far on Thursday??
August 21, 2026 at 4:28 am #54759Rick KimbrellParticipantDrew it last year in the JFF flight. We played 9 holes and left. It was in horrible shape. Some of the fairways would have had nothing green in them were it not for the weeds. Greens in rough shape. Maybe 52 weeks have made a difference but honestly I doubt it.
August 21, 2026 at 5:02 pm #54788Bob NewmanParticipantI’m planning on going by and looking at it Thursday when I come down. I want to know how bad it is before I go to the convention center the first night. I would be willing to be it that no one in on the world am staff has been down to look at it to guarantee that it is in playable condition. I appreciate the hard work that the world staff does, but they have to rely on what the course tells them. They do not have the manpower to physically go check to see if they are being lied to. And somewhere I heard in previous years that they are obliged to obligate every club that is in the Golf Association of Myrtle Beach and opportunity to host a round sad situation. I will be posting for an observe Thursday night. See y’all at the cc
August 21, 2026 at 5:34 pm #54791Les RobisonParticipantI looked up reviews on the Grint app for Wedgefield. On July 26th and July 31st, 2 different people commented that the course was under maintenance. One person stated “awful all around”. It doesn’t sound good.
August 23, 2026 at 3:23 pm #54807Earl BrownParticipantI couldn’t believe it when I saw it was back in the rotation. I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw I didn’t get it, but if my index was what is was last year, it would have been mine. Terrible course and so far away. Good luck to anyone who got it.
August 23, 2026 at 4:13 pm #54809Bob NewmanParticipantWonder if they would consider just counting the first 3 rounds for our flight. Either that are “PRAY FOR A RAINOUT”. I just don’t believe a crappie golf course should ruin the whole experience for anyone. Have run into this before when the “Cats” were not in playable condition. Really sad we should have to put up with this. Even worse we keep coming back thinking it will improve
August 23, 2026 at 6:31 pm #54817Steven ClemmentParticipantCan’t say what conditions the course is in. But Myrtle beach was in a drought in July so I’m guessing every lower tere course was in rough shape. I drew wedge field 2 years ago and they treated us all like we were gods. One of the best run spots I’ve seen at the World am. Everyone gets one they don’t want. Jmo
August 23, 2026 at 7:06 pm #54819Bob NewmanParticipantIT IS NOT A CASE of getting one I do not like, it’s getting one that is not playable.
August 23, 2026 at 8:04 pm #54820Rick KimbrellParticipantLast year when we were down there, the starter was telling us about how much improved the course was compared to how it had been. Well, it wasn’t. I played it many years ago in the WA and it was OK at best. Last year…no way.
August 24, 2026 at 7:39 am #54833Bob NewmanParticipantI played it my first year, 2005 for my second round and it was decedent enough then(matched my home course) and shot about the same . And then I changed home course and moved to a nice track and have been there since . I also work golf tournaments at some really nice tracks. I appreciate the better courses and for the money we’d pay for this tournament , we should not be put on the dogs like Wedgefield and being that far away . I did play founders on vacation. Payed with a buddy for $25 and that’s about what it worth and was enjoying it until i tripped on the curb going into the bathroom and fell. Thank goodness I had enough bandages to atop the bleeding. O;d people on blood thinners do not go together. HR esp was visiting them that day. I bet that YELLOW PAINT is on that curb now
August 24, 2026 at 8:58 am #54837Bob HamlinParticipantWow, glad I didn’t get Wedgefield! Sounds horrific.
I did get Colonial Charters. I’ve heard some good reviews and a couple of bad reviews.
Can anyone tell me about that course?
I see that it does not have a driving range, ugh.August 25, 2026 at 12:40 pm #54888david tianoParticipantColonial Charters is only better than wedgefield because it’s easy to get to.
I had it last year and you better go and play it before the tournament as it’s terrible and they tell you the course scorecard and tee markers are wrong so on some holes (I believe 6 holes) you are on the tips. That would tell me that the course rating and slope on the card is not what you are playing. I complained about it to tournament director last year and he said he would look into it. BS
These courses should only get one day of play if any but here is what they got:
Wedgefield-2
Colonial Charters -2
Brick Landing-3
Lockwood folly-2
Brunswick plantation -2
Lions Paw-2
Hackler-3For the entry fee we pay now $650+ we should be getting quality courses.
August 25, 2026 at 2:33 pm #54890james mcdanielParticipantwhen i drew it before it was almost unplayable and had the largest mosquitos i had ever seen… i have it again and i think i’ll see if i can borrow a bee keepers outfit to play in.
last time i played it everyone complained and they took it off of the rotation, ugh!!!
you think it’s a long way? we stay in north MB
see you at the 19th Bob
jim mcdanielAugust 25, 2026 at 6:11 pm #54904Bob NewmanParticipantJim, I will see u at the 19 hole. I am coming down on Thursday and I am going by to see how it looks. I was told it was recovering fro this summer’s drough but it has improved. They have hired a superintendent fro Bulls Bay to help with said recovery. What day are you playing. Last time I had a really terrible course was the Cats. I had 3 days to mentally prepare and still had a terrible day. At some point someone has to start listening to the facts that some of these courses do not need to be in the rotation.
