Got an update from a friend in Pauleys Island. He talked to someone playing at a club that is an “A” all the time, He said that he recently played Wedgefield last week. Last year he would rate playing conditions were at a 3 level but he would change that to an 8 for this year. Hopefully he is correct. I am still planning on checking for myself. I played a course today that is older and still has original greens to prepare myself. Wonder if I have time to see if USGA to approve my 8lb sledgehammer as a legal putter. It took me to the 18th to get a putt over 7 ft to the hole. Ain’t k
Looking forward to it but I may survive itSeptember 7, 2026 at 10:46 pm #55014Bob NewmanParticipantTo make matters worse, not only did I find “weeds field “ to be in terrible shape, I discovered tonight that I left my 60* wedge on the last hole there. Even though it had Mya name label with address and phone number, no one called me If they did try, I doubt I will ever return to that piece of crap course.. it made Foiundefrs club look great, NO FEASON WHHAT SO EVER THAT IT SHOULD. BE IN. GTHE ROTATION . We pay way too much money to have tp play courses like that.

Yes, the greens were slow, but they putted the same for all. Part of the challenge is to adapt to the course of the day. Sure I’d love to chop down the fairway tree, but it’s their signature tree. It’s a traditional layout and one of the oldest courses, and the personnel there couldn’t have been nicer.

Why were we playing lift cleaning place on Thursday when they hadn’t had any rain on them between Tuesday and Thursday. They had his as much grab grass as Bermuda in them and were thin to where the ball set down a little. It does not make a difference if everyone plays the same course. I guess i just expect more for the money we play to play in this ev ent.. if i was on vacation and had to play this course or founders club or Clown Park and if the greens fee was over $ 30 . I would not Play it.
