I run the skins because I want to make sure “there’s a game”. I have shown up to my Monday course and everyone is looking around for someone to run skins and a guy stepped up. But I am sure he wasn’t planning on it and that may have changed his week (in a way).

I just want to get it out there early to ensure it happens and if I’M doing it, i want to prepare. Paperwork, name verification, and most importantly “my practice time”. And I have a close friend who’s nifty with paperwork stuff..

Yes Jeff, that was an idea we came up with a few years back (cellphone pics). I look at it like this, if you want to turn your “official” card in, that’s fine. Just take a clear pic of it and save it on your phone.

If you made a birdie, etc and you want to know if it’s good, then hang around for a little while and find out. But I also know there are guys who want to leave the course asap because of families waiting. If this is the case, let me know ahead of time and you can text it to me. I/We haven’t had a problem in the past and I don’t anticipate any in the future.

As I mentioned in the other post, I am happy to run the skins game for whatever flight I end up in. I will be ~8.9 index and in the 49 and under division. Last year I was in Flight 4 and ran the skins for BOTH 3 & 4 as a COMBINED game. If anyone else desires to do this more than me, I won’t fret. I can even help out if need be. But if I end up being the one, I will lay out the particulars once course assignments come out.

I will be returning for my 14th WA this year and I am more than happy to run the skins game for whatever flight I end up in. In flight’s 5&6 for a few years w Dave Tiano, and last year with a little help from my buddies Mark, Matt and Jeff Barbas, I ran the skins game for flight’s 3 & 4. If someone else desires to do it more than me and insists, then I would be happy to assist them. I was always early to the course and one of the last to leave. I take nothing off the top but tips are appreciated (which most do). This helps with my swing lube addiction…lol

As mentioned previously, I requested to play w a buddy who is 8.0 for ride sharing purposes. Looking at the previous years breakdown, I’m guessing that it could get me in the top end of Flight 4. That being the case, then I am willing to run the skins pot for Flights 3 AND 4. I will have some help, and would welcome yours if I need it.

If i end up in the bottom of Flight 5, more than likely I will see Tiano who is coming around 10.0. If that’s the case, then yes, you may get stuck running it. LOL

For the last three years Dave Tiano and I ran the skins game in Flights 5 & 6. But there is a possibility that I may be in Flight 4 this year for ride sharing purposes. If in fact I am in Flight 4, I will be more than happy to run the skins game for 3 & 4.

I too thought the HOB was a little tight. I welcomed the change and I also understand why the WA tried it. I believe they were concerned about the weather (which always seems to have a say). If I could vote, i would vote to go back to BATB and perhaps rent a huge tent to protect from potential rain. Having the multiple choices of bars and venues was better. We never waited for a drink at Broadway (and we did at HOB). But it wasn’t their fault as they were overwhelmed.

I agree with Harry in that if markers are moved up/back significantly, there should be an adjustment to what slope/rating you are posting to. You can’t legitimately add/subtract 600 yds to a course and give it the same rating. Years ago, we played a WA tourn. round at MBN West course. Well they had us at the tips(~6800-6900 yds). At the time, I was in the 13-14 hcp range. This is a LONG way for that level of player, BUT if you look at the S/R it’s like 72ish/120ish. That means the level of difficulty isn’t there for such a yardage.

If Harry enters his score himself, then HE could just enter it as playing the “forward” tees if the “whites” were on the usual “gold” boxes (or whatever). The USGA doesn’t care where you play from, as long as it’s entered accordingly. Now if the TC entered for him, then he has a gripe.

As for playing to a certain “colored” tee, people should pay attention to a yardage or slope/rating that they are comfortable with. That way if you go to a course that has a higher slope/rating from it’s “middle/white” tees, all you have to do is move up to the next box and enjoy your round!! There’s no shame in playing the next one up if where you’re at is eating you up.

Sorry I probably should have mentioned that huh??

We are in the 49 and under age bracket. Even though not everyone is less than 50, this is the division we get together in.
I’m not eligible to play in the 50+ division, but from what I’ve heard first hand, the younger gang knows how to have a little more fun!! 🙂
