My buddy and I are playing this year for the first time. He will be playing two and 11.2 and me at a 12.0. I am thinking about doing the request to be flighted together what do you guys think? Would we possibly be in the same flight anyway? Counting down the days!
August 8, 2019 at 4:46 pm #46543Matt MillerParticipantI forgot to mention we both are in the 49 and under group.
August 8, 2019 at 4:51 pm #46544Dale McMathParticipantIf you want to ensure being in the same flight then absolutely opt. Even a .1 differential can put you in different flights and different courses. I come each year with two buddies and we always opt to play in the same flight just to be on the safe side.
August 8, 2019 at 4:51 pm #46545Timothy TullioParticipantMatt, welcome. I’ve gone 10 of the last 11 years with a gang of 40 players and will be playing in the U49 group (6.8 hcp). i would guess you guys will be ok but one year we a buddy and i were split up by .1 hcp. This meant a 2nd rental car and different courses for each of us. you could roll the dice or make the request.
August 8, 2019 at 4:55 pm #46548Matt MillerParticipantThat is what I am leaning towards. I think it would make for a fun week and be less stressful on transportation since we only have one vehicle. Thanks for responding!

Now if I was playing as a 2 handicap and was looking to drop to play as a 1, that 1 stroke is far more significant
August 8, 2019 at 9:40 pm #46551Matt MillerParticipantThanks all! I was mostly nervous about doing it since we can’t both win flight. I was also thinking how crappy it would be to see that I WOULD have done well in the flight I should have been in. Anyway, the odds of us both being a flight winner in separate flights is 1:2500. Anyway….close enough to me and 1 stroke not that different. I will say that I picked a bad time to have 2 career rounds in a row that brought me down from a 13.6 in just 2 revisions!
Starting to get excited to see the course lineup. This is only the second time in MB (we are from the Philly area). Go E-A-G-L-E-S!

Enjoy and welcome to the WA.
DavidAugust 9, 2019 at 4:16 pm #46563Matt MillerParticipantThanks David this is exactly the information I was trying to find. I realize they can change every year. Just to be safe we will request to be flighted since it’s not going to make much of a difference anyway.
