There is a hotel in North Myrtle Beach I stay at every year all rooms are ocean front rooms and its clean…rates are like $ 77.00 a night…It’s The Blockade Runner 1910 N Ocean Blvd, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29597

From the hotel if you go down to Main street and take the new bypass ( 31 ) it takes about 20 to 25 mins. to get to the 19th Hole at the convention center…

I don’t know how they are these days because I have not stayed in NMB for the WA since the late 90s but back then the NMB police were notorious for pulling over vehicles with out of state license plates during the week of the World Am. They were looking for DUI offenders coming from the Convention Center.

I stay in NMB every year and never had a problem with the police. I guess if you are not impaired then there is nothing to worry about.

Again Mike, I said this was in the late 90s. I was not impaired back then either but still got pulled over. My question was “Why are you stopping me?” The answer I got, “You was driving suspiciously, let me see your license and registration”. Asked me where I was coming from, I said MB Convention Center. Immediately I was asked to get out of the car. I did. I guess he found out I was not “impaired” and told me I could go. Again, late 90s. I have never figured out what “driving suspiciously” actually meant other than let’s see if we can nail an out of stater.
I have been playing in the World Am since 1988 and not missed a year. I don’t stay in NMB any more and I don’t have to deal with NMB police, as did many folks back in those years.

Yea I’ve never had a problem staying on the North end either before I started playing the World AM I use to play the Surf Club tournament every year and go 2 or 3 times before the World AM we like the North end because of Ducks beach club and Fat Harold’s we go there about every night….

Rick, I am from out of country so I will make sure I drive normal. I don’t need the cops hassling after that see my Canadian plates.
