Haven’t played in a couple of years but was planning on coming back this year. I love to golf and wife LOVES the dancing at the CC. Price should be down around $300. Owning my own condo, We will still be coming down and play courses for under $200

I feel this tournament is a little pricey if you do not have the 19th hole. Most courses can be booked from $ 40.00 to $ 60.00 and the gift bag is basically the same old stuff just in a different color. I wish one year they would do away with the PULLOVER and go to just a nice windbreaker jacket like they did a few years back. I have way too many pullovers that I do not wear. A nice sweater would be good too. I feel that with No 19th hole the price should be in the $ 350.00 range. What do you think ?

Lee, I think that the WA needs our support this year more than ever. This is a unique situation with this virus and no decision they made was going to please everyone. I appreciate them going ahead and moving forward with the golf phase of it. I was willing to pay their price regardless just to make sure the event was held, I did not want to see it cancelled this year. A great number of people really do care for the CC more than the golf, some are all about the gift bag. They have been ever adapting to the changing climate of what the surveys tell them. We are not privy to exactly what they see in the surveys but I honestly feel they are providing what the majority want. We all have to make decisions based on our on feelings. I just think all of us regulars should play this year. JMO

Bob, don’t get my wrong, I plan to play this year since I booked my Hotel room in November at a great rate At THE GRAND SHORES OCEAN RESORTS, STAYED THERE THE LAST TWO TIMES I HAVE STAYED IN Myrtle Beach, saved $ 50.00 from last years rate. $ 331.00 for 5 nights including Resort fee. Being 71 years young and having a heart attack back in 2018 and missing the tournament, I don’t plan on missing any more. Golf is the best part of the tournament, but my better half does like the entertainment at the CC and the Friendly’s ice cream. Since her brother lives in Conway, we always get with them to eat out a couple of nights while we are down. Have been playing since 2007 and enjoy this tournament, having made a whole lot of friends and came in tied for 4th in last years flight. So I will be there.

I think the price is fair. I am with Bob, I think those of us who play every year need to support them this year. This will be my 33 consecutive trip to the WA. The Convention Center is a big part of the event for me. All of those friends I have met and see every year…well this year will be tough to make that happen as we aren’t all in the same age bracket and flights. I applaud the WA Committee for their efforts and holding the event this year in the face of all the uncertainties with COVID.

Rick, look forward to catching up with you this year, I’ll even buy you a beer. Don’t know if I’ll be in your flight this year. I’m struggling to break 90 right now. Shoulder is fine, just can’t get consistent. Last year we were 12 indexes and now I’m a 16. Don’t know how they will work best of last 12 months. Anyway we need to come yo with a way we can find a place to h@ve a gathering ..

Bob, depending upon what the “congregating” restrictions are as we get closer to tournament week, I will try to post something about getting together. I would hope by then the Sunday evening event could still take place…who knows. But, if it doesn’t we will figure something out.

We now have restaurants open to dine in service. Tables are farther apart but anyone can be at same table. I think in 2 weeks S.C. will be wide open. I know I will be. S.C. will not miss the $$$ from tourists and restaurants and bars and other businesses need to be open.

I’ve thought long and hard about my decision as the 19th Hole is the second best part of the event for me. Meeting with friends, the unlimited food/drink options, grabbing the scoresheet to see where you stood, and just meeting and hanging out with the folks. I’ll probably go, too much enjoyment from the event and the golf competition. One positive: Ewa Mataya Larwence won’t get the chance to kick my butt in 9 ball, again.
