Damn Harry. sorry to hear this. Guess you really are willing to do anything to get the WA to let you play at a higher handicap. 🙂
Get well soon.Rick KimbrellParticipant@Bob Newman…you are correct. People only seem to look at their score as it relates to par for the course. The differential for each round is much more important. In my handicap range, 2 courses my tournament league are drastically different. I can shoot an 82 for net 71 and my differential is 8.7 where as on the other course, same score will result in differential of 13.4.
As far as people not posting their tournament scores…no excuse is acceptable. It can always be posted manually if you can’t find the course. Just need par, course rating, slope rating. And post it on a timely basis.Rick KimbrellParticipantI don’t disagree it would take considerable effort but it was done for year before COVID. Figure it out and bring back pairing at least the top 1-4 and 5-8. They deserve to play with players with whom they really are in contention.
Rick KimbrellParticipantI have played Diamondback many times. I STRONGLY suggest you try and play a practice round there. It plays tight and requires you to not spray the ball.
Rick KimbrellParticipantSir Tom, you da’ man. Jeff texted me at 2:29 saying no email yet but on the website the course assignments were available. Again..you ‘da man! You said 2:27 today.
Rick KimbrellParticipantMr Wolf, since you aimed your comment at me…I never said you worked for a course. I simply said courses do not seem to be very up front about their course conditions. I haven’t played Caledonia so I did not, could not, make any comment about how good or bad Caledonia’s conditions are. It has been my experience in my 34 years of playing in the World Am that leads me to believe the courses let the WA committee think they are in good condition when they are not. Same for the paying public. You show up at a course, pay full price only to find that the greens are mostly dirt, weeds knee high growing around bunkers, tee boxes mostly sand. Why would they not tell you…cause, as you said, they operate to make a profit. It helps to know locals who can advise you on course conditions.

Rick KimbrellParticipantYep, Bob, I have uttered that one more times than I care to think about.
Rick KimbrellParticipantIn 34 years, I have never heard anyone argue about who was going to drive. As for me, I always put my clubs on passenger side even if I get there first. I have my own cart at home so I drive all the time here. Don’t really care in MB.
Rick KimbrellParticipantA few other phrases….
GET UP GET UP
GET DOWN GET DOWN
STOP STOP
OH HE!! NOT AGAINRick KimbrellParticipantI do understand Harry. My body is pretty beat up right now too but it is what it is. Glad your son is coming. Sure you guys will have fun. I was hoping my son would make it this year but he seems too busy selling Tito’s Vodka to make it.
Rick KimbrellParticipant@Harry STFU. Just kidding of course. See you in couple of weeks.
Rick KimbrellParticipant@John Wolf, forgot to mention…the reason I posted what I did above…from your post on another topic “The courses here operate on their own to make a profit.” Thus, why would they be truthful about their course conditions if they really do have course issues?

Rick KimbrellParticipant@John Wolf…do you really think the golf course is going to tell you their course is in poor condition? They may tell you greens were punched couple of weeks ago or something like that but I can’t imagine they would tell you their course is full of bare spots in fairways, weeds growing out of their bunkers, several greens have dead spots on them…as was the case with some of the Big Cats courses last year and the year before.
Rick KimbrellParticipantStarting August 25th (Thursday), we will be playing 1 round on 25th, 2 rounds on 26th, 2 rounds on 27th, 1 round on 28th, 4 tournament rounds, then Friday Sept 2nd(assuming not in Finals 2 rounds, then 1 last round on Saturday September 3rd and then fly home. FWIW, I am 76 years old and intend to play everyone of those rounds. Afterall, it is a golf vacation. I can rest and sleep when I am dead. The WA rates at most places do not apply to rounds played after the tournament.
Rick KimbrellParticipantCouple empty Gatorade bottles, fill with 75% you favorite whiskey, add another 10% water, then freeze overnight. You are set for the next day. Well maybe make that more than a couple…4 bottles seems to work for 18 holes.
