First let me say I had 4 great groups to play golf with in flight 51. And thank all of them for laughing at my bad ‘dad jokes”.

4 really good courses, but think maybe we could have been on a different set of tees at Heathland. But hey everyone played from the same tees.

Length of rounds ranged from a low of four and a half hours on Thursday, we were the first group off, up to 6 hours on Monday teeing off at 8:20.

As for the Convention Center, food selection was good, and while some lines were long they moved quickly. I miss the day of having more vendors there, but I understand.

Planning to come back next year.

Burning Ridge monday was not a “playing it down today” course!! Of all our courses, it was the worse conditions and the rain amount was incredible leading up to the WA, that doesn’t excuse course pro needing props for unplayable grounds. Every shot, every shot had clumps of mud every where it landed.
We played LCP 2 more days after that, on much better conditions. Just a BS decision by somebody, because I’ve never seen golfballs drop from the sky or go left or right from clubfaces like that!! Sad, Bad decision for Burning Ridge, our entire flight was upset about not being able to have a good chance to make good shots once it left your tee box.🤬

I, too, feel I had 4 really good groups all week. At the beginning of the week I was even happy with my course assignments (for Flight 28 giving Burning Ridge a c minus and the other 3 2 A’s and a B+…that was until Monday at Burning Ridge
I think the course did a good job drying out to the point we could take carts onto all but 3 of the fairwayrs.. that’s where the lovefest ends. I even had photos to prove my ranting. Glenn, thanks for your post, thus sparing me from a lifetime ban (plus 40 years) from the World Am if I had made my opinions of Round 1 public.

Flight 23 winner just wanted the money for winning the Flight !!!! Didn’t even show up for the finals. Should be disqualified and refund the money and give it to 2nd place guy. Piss poor of a guy to do that if he signs up next year I’m not playing in the tournament. I have been playing this tournament for 24 years and it’s a Dam shame people are just out for the money !!!! This is the same guy that Told a lie on me on this board. He said it on the board but not to my face. He made a point to not get near me. I told the Director I wouldn’t make a seen and i didnt. What a piece of Shit !!! 2nd should have got to play in the finals. My point is if you win your flight you don’t receive the fight money if you don’t show up on Friday at the finals.

    JT,
The reason I could not play in the championship round is because I had to be back to work Friday morning at the hospital I work at.
Golf is a great game and we are fortunate to play it and meet amazing people from all over the country. However, as much as I enjoy golf, I am dedicated to my job and helping my fellow hospital employees take care of the public and give them the best possible care in the world during their times of need.
As far as next year, HELL YES, I will be back at the World Am.

    Raymond,
You owe no one an explanation, you are owed an apology but doubt you will get one. Regardless, thanks for the class you exhibited with your response to an internet flamer. Everyone has a different story and motivation in playing this tournament and congratulations on winning your flight while keeping real life in perspective. It is others that need a bigger understanding while they attempt to achieve their own personal goals.

Have a good year and hope we all have more tournaments in our future.

PS-Before anyone flames another participant, just take a moment reflecting on the poor gentleman that passed away on the course during the Monday round and realize we are indeed lucky to participate and come home to our love ones at the end of the week regardless of winning or losing our flights.

    WA Staff…
I hope the WA staff will respond to this so everyone will know.

I have never finished 2nd in my flight in 38 years. I have finished just about everywhere else but not 2nd. If the 2nd place finisher shows up at the finals and the 1st place finisher is a no-show…can the 2nd place finisher play? I am guessing no but would like confirmation on that. Without knowing the answer, I would have done so if I were the 2nd place finisher. Never in 38 years of playing have I finished 2nd.
    So just asking…..

This really should be addressed. There were MORE than a few of these occasions that happened this year. I get that people realize their chances of winning the flight are slim and they plan on departing Friday just because. But as a winner, you should plan on changing your travel, or let the WA staff know so the next one can step up. (I am sure this won’t get any attention).

Rick Kimbrell and Raymond Abernathy…. Rick (and Ken), I think that’s a WONDERFUL idea. I think if the 1st place finisher cannot participate in the Championship Round then the 2nd place should be able to take their place (money still stays the same 1st place gets their 1st place prize, etc).

And Raymond YOU DON’T OWE ANYONE an explanation… Thank you for the work you do (my wife works at a hospital as well…and some things are just MORE important for others).
