When I first started playing in the world am on Thursday you got to play where you was in the field. I would love to see them start this up again especially for the guys who are leading each flight. I think it would feel more like tournament conditions if you had that extra bit of pressure on a shot.

It really is something I wish they would bring back. In todays world of technology, it should not be that hard…this coming from someone who spent a career in Information Technology.

But the issue with 60 courses is that the WA would have to rely on each cloud pro to do all the work. Someone would have to turn on the computer, log in to Golf Genius and put in the necessary information and then hit print etc etc. then someone would have to send out text to notify some 100 players. The courses have grown to enjoy the extra $$$$$$ with very little work. They are lazy. JMO

April 24, 2025 at 11:51 am #53484Frank PintoParticipantI am fortunate to have experienced being in the final group under both conditions. When paired together with the final group, we knew immediately after the round who won the flight. When randomly paired with others on the final day, it was a bit anticlimactic at the end of the round not knowing who won. I had 2 family members refreshing the leaderboard while I was in the car driving back to the hotel…the call came from one of my sons that I had won! That was a special moment as well. I’m OK either way they play it forward.

May 5, 2025 at 2:43 pm #53502James CarterParticipantI would love to see this again. I’ve had the fortune to be in the final 8 on 2 occasions. Although I didn’t capitalize on being in the final 8, I did know where I was and what I needed to do.

BUT it would require the host course to do this, which would require someone to put forth the effort at the Host course. The WA staff does not have the manpower. The host courses look at the Tournament as a “cash cow “ with little effort on their part. The reason it went to Tee times is because it is less work on the host course. I personally like the tee times better. When I started playing on 2005, everything was different. The courses treated us better. Had rovers monitor pace of play and pro would come out to speed up those that were behind. Some even provided a tee gift. ( pace was still 5 1/2+ hours). Gift bag was not as much as we get now-I think it was increased because those that couldn’t expect to win complained it was too small. I think the courses are not as good as before is because the pros don’t let the WA STAFF know how bad they are. Older courses require more maintenance. I fully expected this to be close to full by the deadline but it’s not close to date.. this is all JMO based on what I see happening. I do enjoy playing in it for various reasons. I’m approaching the age to where I honestly don’t know if I can play for 4 days but I’m gonna try.
