A couple of years ago I won the longest drive for my flight but I came about 15-20 yards of hitting it thru the fairway.
It was a long Par 4 and around 250-260 yards the fairway slopped downhill. I ended up with around a 310 yard drive but the fairway ran out around 340. If I was down the middle but thru the fairway, what is the ruling? Am I out of the longest drive contest or can I mark it thru the fairway?

Just as you described, right down the middle but a couple yards into the rough of a dividend fairway. Game organizers…..don’t choose such holes for a longest drive competition!
