I heard yesterday on the Rules Webinar and confirmed it today, that the Tournament will adopt a Local Rule setting the Maximum Score per Hole to 9. Of course, the WA has always played full stroke play and counted all strokes needed to hole out each hole.
I think Scott and the WA team have come up with a great idea that will improve Pace of Play as well as keeping some of the wayward players involved. Let’s admit it, a player making a 9 doesn’t have a chance of winning, so I don’t believe it will effect the four day Leaderboard.
Last year, a guy in my flight had a 21 on a hole and I felt horrible for the guy and for everyone playing behind him.

It has seemed to make a slight difference in speeding up play, but I think course difficulty is really the determining factor in managing pace of play. And yes, if you make a 9 it is probably taking you out of contention anyway.
